First Meeting of Aquaculture Technical High Schools in Biobío

Eighty students from third and fourth year of high school specializing in aquaculture from three institutions participated in the First Meeting of Technical Professional High Schools that offer the Aquaculture specialty in the Biobío Region. The objective was to bring scientific knowledge closer to sustainable aquaculture issues, allowing reflection and contribution from educational training to the sustainability of the sector.

According to Pablo Carrasco, Society Engagement Coordinator at INCAR, this activity marks a milestone; “as it is the first time that a regional meeting of technical high schools in aquaculture has been held, promoting training, exchange of experiences, and collaboration among these public education network institutions. This has already generated new ideas for continuing to carry out new transfer activities between some high schools on diving and aquaponics. Another idea that emerged from this initiative, reinforcing the importance of collaboration, was the agreement to hold at least one annual meeting of this nature, which should consider the rotation of the hosting high school.”
