Four INCAR Researchers will participate in the European Congress of Marine Biotechnology

Four Researchers from the Aquaculture Genomics line of the Interdisciplinary Center for Aquaculture Research (INCAR) will participate in the European Congress of Marine Biotechnology, which will take place in Malaga, Spain, between November 22 and 24. 

The delegation, led by Dr. Cristian Gallardo-Escárate, the Principal Investigator of the division, will deliver three oral presentations and present a poster. Joining Dr. Gallardo-Escárate are Dr. Valentina Valenzuela, Dr. Yeni Leal, and Dr. Antonio Casuso. Dr. Valenzuela and Dr. Casuso will be presenting at the “Aquaculture Biotechnology” session on Wednesday, November 22, at the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Malaga. Dr. Valenzuela will open the session with her presentation Transcriptome and microbiome profile of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) during successive infestation with the sea louse Caligus rogercresseyi”. On the other hand, Dr. Casuso will present “Functional genomics to evaluate anti-sea lice vaccines in the Atlantic salmon.” 

On Thursday, November 23, Dr. Yeni Leal will present her “Alternative splicing in Atlantic salmon head kidney and SHK-1 cell line during the Piscirickettsia salmonis infection”. This presentation will take place in the session titled “Marine Feed, Food, and Informatics Tools” at the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Malaga. Meanwhile, Dr. Cristian Gallardo-Escárate, the Principal Investigator and Deputy Director of INCAR, will present his researchProximity ligation (HI-C) analysis in the sea louse Caligus rogercresseyi reveals chromosome structural variations associated with sex-biased gene expression” in poster format.
