Mission, Vision and Goals
Mission
Our mission is to generate relevant scientific knowledge as a tool to transform aquaculture into a sustainable and productive activity in ecological, economic, and social aspects, to contribute to the sustainable development of Chile.
Vision
The vision of INCAR is to become a globally recognized center of excellence, making significant contributions to research for the development of sustainable aquaculture in the Southeast Pacific.
Goals
The Center has set four general research goals:
- Goal I: To generate scientific knowledge aimed at reducing the use of antibiotics, pesticides, and other pharmaceutical products in aquaculture.
- Goal II: To generate scientific knowledge aimed at reducing the environmental footprint of aquaculture while improving integration with other uses of the marine environment.
- Goal III: To generate scientific knowledge aimed at improving the socioeconomic sustainability of aquaculture.
- Goal IV: To influence public policies and promote good governance practices based on key research findings, in order to facilitate the implementation of EAA (Ecosystem Approach to Aquaculture).
