On the other hand, the proper valorization of bagasse could transform it into a valuable nutritional resource for the salmon industry, which is a vital economic sector in the country.<\/p>\n<p>In this context, Universidad Austral, in collaboration with Cervecer\u00eda Kunstmann, has developed the project titled &#8220;In Vitro Evaluation of Beer Bagasse Flour.&#8221; This initiative aims to investigate the properties of this byproduct and potentially repurpose it as animal feed. The project is directed by a team of female researchers from Universidad Austral, including Dr. Cristina Ravanal, Dr. Alexandra Gonz\u00e1lez, and biochemist Ms. (c) Tatiana P\u00e9rez. This project is part of the InES initiative &#8220;Knowledge + Gender UACh,&#8221; INGE22000, ANID, (INGE-2024-08), which advocates for gender equality in research and emphasizes the vital role of women in science. The findings of this project will be presented at the seminar &#8220;Women Scientists Contributing to Circular Economy between the Brewing and Aquaculture Industries,&#8221; scheduled for January 21 at the Ricardo Westermeyer Auditorium in the ICYTAL Building, Campus Isla Teja UACh, Valdivia, from 15:00 to 17:30 hours.<\/p>\n<p>The event, organized by Tatiana P\u00e9rez, member of the RP3 line &#8220;Animal Health in Marine Environments&#8221; and a MSc candidate at the INCAR center, will feature the results from this research in three presentations: &#8220;Waste from the Brewing Industry: A Perspective on Bioprocesses&#8221; by Dr. Mar\u00eda Cristina Ravanal, Director of the INGE-2024-08 project at the Universidad Austral de Chile; &#8220;Utilization of Brewer&#8217;s Spent Grain in Aquaculture&#8221; by Diego C\u00e1rcamo, MSc student in Biochemical Biotechnology at INCAR, along with Fabiola S\u00e1nchez, Biochemistry student associated with the center; and &#8220;The Role of Women in Chilean Salmon Farming: Challenges and Opportunities from Science to Production&#8221; by Dr. Andrea A.
