On Monday, May 26, INCAR\u2019s Public Engagement Officer, Pablo Carrasco, opened INCAR\u2019s participation by presenting \u201cFrom the Laboratory to Policy: Connecting Knowledge with Decision-Making for Sustainable Aquaculture\u201d during the IX Symposium on Marine Science Communication, part of the \u201cOcean Literacy Route\u201d, a parallel activity to the main congress.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, May 27, Dr. Jessica Fuentes, Associate Researcher in the Integrative Program, presented \u201cNew Aquaculture Regulations: Opportunities and Challenges\u201d in the symposium on new legislative proposals for fisheries and aquaculture, organized by the College of Marine Biologists.<\/p>\n
Later, Dr. Carlos Molinet, Adjunct Researcher at INCAR and professor at Universidad Austral de Chile (Puerto Montt campus), presented \u201cNatural Beds of Chilean Mussel and Their Importance for the Collection of Wild Seed for Fattening\u201d during a symposium on planning future research for the mussel farming industry, organized by AmiChile and Intemit.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday, May 28, during the session \u201cAquaculture, Resource Management and Governance\u201d, Dr. Ruben Avenda\u00f1o-Herrera gave the talk Development of a Multiplex PCR Method to Type the O-Antigen of Tenacibaculum dicentrarchi<\/em> Isolates\u201d, a study from Universidad Andr\u00e9s Bello and INCAR, which contributes to vaccine development and enables researchers worldwide to type isolates and conduct epidemiological studies. Dr. Jessica Fuentes gave the talk \u201cElements to Consider in New Aquaculture Regulation\u201d, sharing INCAR\u2019s input to the debate on the new Aquaculture Law in Chile\u201d.<\/p>\n That same evening, INCAR, along with COPAS Coastal and the CIDEMAR Foundation, organized the \u201cScientific Monologues\u201d, part of the Ocean Literacy Route.
