{"id":33777,"date":"2025-09-12T14:22:09","date_gmt":"2025-09-12T18:22:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/centroincar.cl\/?p=33777"},"modified":"2025-09-22T09:10:09","modified_gmt":"2025-09-22T13:10:09","slug":"seminario-latinoamericano-incar-2025-abordara-avances-en-vacunas-contra-enfermedades-acuicolas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/centroincar.cl\/en\/2025\/09\/12\/seminario-latinoamericano-incar-2025-abordara-avances-en-vacunas-contra-enfermedades-acuicolas\/","title":{"rendered":"INCAR 2025 Latin American Seminar to Highlight Breakthroughs in Aquaculture Disease Vaccines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--StartFragment --><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>The webinar will take place on October 20 and 22 via Zoom and will bring together specialists from Norway, the United States, Peru, Colombia, Cuba, and Chile.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Interdisciplinary Center for Aquaculture Research (INCAR) has confirmed the second edition of the Latin American Seminar on Aquaculture Diseases, which this time will focus on the topic \u201cVaccine Development to Prevent Bacterial and Parasitic Diseases in Aquaculture: Lessons and Experiences.\u201d The event will take place in October 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Following its successful debut in 2023, the seminar returns with a specialized focus on the development and application of vaccines to combat bacterial and viral diseases affecting farmed aquatic species.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative, led by Dr. Ruben Avenda\u00f1o-Herrera, Principal Investigator of the \u201cAnimal Health in Freshwater Life Stages of Salmonids\u201d research line at INCAR and Professor at Universidad Andr\u00e9s Bello (UNAB), will bring together eight specialists from six countries across two virtual sessions scheduled for October 20 and 22.<\/p>\n<p>The preliminary program for the October 20 session includes the following presentations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cVaccines Against Piscirickettsiosis: A Disease with Potential Global Impact,\u201d by Dr. Jaime Tobar, R&amp;D and Business Development Director at Vaxxinova (Norway)<\/li>\n<li>\u201cImmersion Vaccination in Chilean Salmon Farming: From Strategy to Results,\u201d by Dr. Mat\u00edas Poblete, Technical Submanager for Biologicals at Veterqu\u00edmica (Chile)<\/li>\n<li>\u201cFish Vaccination Experiences in Peru: Field Evidence with Native and Exotic Fish Species,\u201d by Dr. Jefferson Yunis Aguinaga, Researcher at the Aquatic Pathology Laboratory of the Sea Institute of Peru (IMARPE, Peru)<\/li>\n<li>\u201cVaccine Strategies Against Piscine Lactococcosis,\u201d by Dr. Esteban Soto Mart\u00ednez, Associate Professor at the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of California-Davis (USA)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Meanwhile, the October 22 session will feature:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cCaligus and Its Impact on Salmon Farming,\u201d by Dr. Cristian Gallardo-Esc\u00e1rate, Deputy Director of INCAR (Chile)<\/li>\n<li>\u201cPrime-Boost Vaccination with Chimeric Antigens Confers Protection Against Experimental Lepeophtheirus salmonis Infestation in Atlantic Salmon (Salmo salar L.),\u201d by Dr. Mario Pablo Estrada Garc\u00eda, Director of Agricultural Research at the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB, Cuba)<\/li>\n<li>\u201cSuccessful Interinstitutional Cooperation with a One Health Approach in Managing Streptococcosis in Tilapia in Colombia,\u201d by Dr. Paola Barato, Founder, Executive Director, and Scientific Director of Corpavet (Colombia)<\/li>\n<li>\u201cDevelopment of an Experimental Vaccine to Prevent Tenacibaculosis Caused by Tenacibaculum dicentrarchi in Atlantic Salmon,\u201d by Dr. Ruben Avenda\u00f1o-Herrera, Principal Investigator at INCAR (Chile)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The sessions will be held via Zoom and registration is free.
