As the first event worldwide devoted exclusively to this disease, the conference aims to integrate science, industry, and public policy to advance toward a more sustainable salmon aquaculture sector with reduced sanitary, environmental, and socioeconomic impacts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On November 10\u201311, 2026, the city of Puerto Varas, Chile, will host the <strong>International Conference on Salmon Rickettsial Syndrome (SRS2026) \u2014 <em>Integrating Science, Industry and Policy for Sustainable Salmon Aquaculture<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Organized by the <strong>Interdisciplinary Center for Aquaculture Research \u2013 Applied Research (INCAR\u00b2)<\/strong>, the conference will convene researchers, industry professionals, regulatory authorities, and representatives of civil society. Its objective is to create an interdisciplinary forum for the presentation and discussion of the latest advances in piscirickettsiosis, including new technologies, diagnostic approaches, therapeutic strategies, and their environmental and socioeconomic impacts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Salmon Rickettsial Septicemia (SRS)<\/strong>, caused by <em>Piscirickettsia salmonis<\/em>, is the most devastating infectious disease affecting salmon aquaculture in Chile, accounting for nearly 70% of mortality due to infectious causes. In recent years, however, the disease has also been detected in other salmon-producing countries in Europe, causing significant mortality in farmed fish. Its impact is critical, as it leads to substantial economic losses, reduces export competitiveness, and necessitates intensive antibiotic use.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConsidering the relevance of this international conference, and the fact that it will take place in one of Chile\u2019s main salmon-producing regions, I would like to invite researchers, producers, and industry suppliers from all countries facing this shared challenge to save the date and be part of the <strong>SRS 2026 International Conference<\/strong>, organized by the INCAR\u00b2 Center.
