Puerto Varas, in the heart of Chilean Patagonia, will serve as the meeting point for researchers from around the world at EPIMAR 2027, an event that aims to become a global platform for advancing epigenetics and epigenomics in marine and aquatic systems.<\/p>\n
Organized by the Interdisciplinary Center for Aquaculture Research \u2013 Applied Research (CIA-INCAR\u00b2), this symposium is the fourth edition of an international initiative that began in 2020 in Montpellier, France. Previous editions were held in Woods Hole, United States (2022), and Barcelona, Spain (2025). Now, Chile takes on the challenge of hosting this important international scientific event.<\/p>\n
EPIMAR 2027 will bring together a global community of scientists interested in the epigenetic and epigenomic mechanisms that influence the biology, adaptation, health, and evolution of marine organisms.<\/p>\n
The symposium will include oral presentations and poster sessions addressing topics such as \u201cEpigenetic responses to pollution and climate change,\u201d \u201cEnvironmental memory, adaptation, and inheritance,\u201d \u201cIntegrating multi-omic data in marine systems,\u201d \u201cEmerging tools in marine epigenomics,\u201d and \u201cEpigenetics applied to aquatic resource management.\u201d<\/p>\n
The natural setting of Puerto Varas will provide an ideal environment for exchanging ideas, building collaborations, and discussing emerging challenges in marine epigenomics, particularly in the context of climate change, environmental stressors, and the sustainable use of aquatic resources.<\/p>\n

The Scientific Committee for EPIMAR 2027 is composed of an outstanding group of internationally recognized experts in marine sciences, epigenetics, and related fields. Members include C\u00e9line Cosseau (University of Perpignan, France); Enrico D\u2019Aniello (Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn, Italy); Noelia D\u00edaz (ICM-CSIC, Spain); Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Eirin-L\u00f3pez (Florida International University, USA); Cristian Gallardo (INCAR\u00b2 and University of Concepci\u00f3n, Chile); Laia Navarro-Mart\u00edn (IDAEA-CSIC, Spain); Francesc Piferrer (ICM-CSIC, Spain); Holie Putnam (University of Rhode Island, USA); Guillaume Rivi\u00e8re (University of Caen-Normandy, France); Steven Roberts (University of Washington, USA); Josep Rotllant (IIM-CSIC, Spain); Valentina Valenzuela (INCAR\u00b2, UdeC, Chile) Diego Valenzuela (INCAR\u00b2, UdeC, Chile); and J\u00e9r\u00e9mie Vidal-Dupiol (IFREMER, France). Together, they bring extensive expertise and leadership to guide the scientific vision of the symposium.<\/p>\n
The organizers invite researchers from universities, research centers, and industry who are interested in the epigenomics of marine organisms to actively participate in this symposium and contribute to the development of this rapidly expanding field.<\/p>\n
