Dra. Valentina Valenzuela will be Guest Editor for the special edition of “Parasite-Host Interaction in Salmon” of the Journal Fishes

The Researcher of the “Aquaculture Genomics” line of the INCAR Center, Dr. Valentina Valenzuela, will be Guest Editor for the Special Edition on “Parasite-Host Interaction in Salmon” of the Journal Fishes, an open access, peer-reviewed, and international monthly journal. published by MDPI.

The special edition belongs to the “Fish Pathology and Parasitology” section and receives articles on genomics, epigenomics and transcriptomics of host-parasite interactions in salmon, until November 15, 2023.

“Currently, omics tools allow establishing a global vision to understand the molecular process involved in the host-parasite interaction, and their application has been increasing in salmon studies. In addition, it allows us to evaluate the adaptation mechanism of the host or parasite in response to different treatments. For example, transcriptomics allows expression profiles in both organisms during infection to identify molecules associated with the interaction process. Furthermore, non-coding RNA (miRNA, lncRNA, etc.) has important functions during gene expression in response to infections. The application of epigenetic studies can describe the behavior of a host or parasite genome during parasite infection. All of this knowledge enables new prevention strategies and treatment regimens for the salmon industry,” explains Dr. Valenzuela.

Among the requirements, the documents must be submitted online through the submission form at www.mdpi.com by the stipulated date (November 15), the manuscripts submitted must not have been previously published, nor be under consideration for publication. elsewhere (except conference proceedings documents). Additionally, all abstracts are thoroughly reviewed through a single-blind peer review process.

Accepted papers will be continuously published in the journal (as soon as they are accepted) and will be listed together on the special issues website.
