Dr. Carlos Chávez, Associate Researcher of the “Socioeconomic Sustainability” line at the INCAR Center, is currently participating in the North American Association of Fisheries Economists (NAAFE) Forum 2023. The forum, which focuses on the central topic of “Science and Governance for Sustainable Fisheries in a Changing Ocean,” began on Tuesday, May 23 and will continue until Friday, May 26. The event is taking place at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, United States.
During the conference, Dr. Chávez will be presenting on Thursday, May 25 in the special session 3 titled “Aquaculture Performance Indicators. the presentation, titled “Assessing the Aquaculture Performance Indicators (APIs): Evidence from Aquaculture Production Systems in Chile,” co-authored by Dr. Jorge Dresdner, Nuria González, and Mauricio Leiva, who are also researchers at INCAR.
During the same session, Dr. Håkan Eggert will present the work “The Chilean Mussel Miracle: From Zero to 400,000 tons in 30 Years,” which was conducted in collaboration with Dr. Marjorie Baquedano, Dr. Jorge Dresdner, and Dr. Carlos Chávez. Additionally, on May 25, Dr. Chávez will serve as the moderator for the session titled “Aquaculture 3: Production and Disease Economics.”
