The Research Centers of Excellence linked to the Department of Oceanography of the University of Concepción: COPAS Coastal, the Millennium Institute of Oceanography (IMO), the Millennium Institute of Coastal Socio-Ecology (SECOS) and the Interdisciplinary Center for Aquaculture Research (INCAR), will participate in the Festival of the Ocean, an activity organized together with the Museum of Natural History of Concepción.
The initiative will take place on Thursday, June 8, between 11:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., and will include recreational activities aimed at the whole family, such as face painting with marine biodiversity, games associated with the ocean, storytelling and a zine workshop for the childhood.
The director of the Museum, Roxana Torres, highlighted that this festival is the result of the joint work that the different institutions and centers have been carrying out since 2022, and that it seeks to generate instances of dissemination and awareness of the community around the ocean. “Marine biodiversity is totally linked to the development of life on the planet and we believe that education is fundamental so that the new generations understand this link and assume an active role in its care and protection”, he pointed out.
The Natural History Museum of Concepción is located at Maipú 2359, Concepción, and admission is free.
