Dr. Renato Quiñones, Director of the INCAR Center, will be participating in the Scientific Symposium “Trends, Reflections, Evolution, and Visions in Ocean Research: A Celebration of the Scientific Life of Trevor Platt” at The Plymouth Marine Laboratory in Plymouth, United Kingdom, from Wednesday, August 9th to Friday, August 11th.
During the symposium, Dr. Quiñones, who was a disciple of Dr. Trevor Platt, will conclude the series of presentations on Friday, August 11th with his talk titled “Pelagic Respiration and Biomass Size Spectra in the Humboldt Current System,” authored by R. Quiñones, Rodrigo Montes, and Rodrigo González.
Dr. Trevor Platt, who passed away in 2020, made significant contributions to fundamental and applied research in various fields, including biological oceanography, phytoplankton ecology, theoretical ecology, dynamics and structure of marine ecosystems, marine bio-optics, spectral analysis applied to plankton distribution in the ocean, carbon cycle, and global climate change, with over 320 scientific publications throughout his career.
