On Thursday, October 4th, INCAR in the Sciences festival (FECI 2023) at the Cultural Center of Curanilahue with its exhibition “The Benthic World and its Diversity: Knowing to Protect”. This exhibition showcased a collection of 100 species that are part of the natural and cultural heritage of the region. Furthermore, Dr. Zeneida Wong, Associate Researcher in the “Environmental Sustainability” field, participated in the “You, Me, and Science” segment, where she delivered a talk titled “The Encounter of Two Waters”. This talk addressed the Coastal Upwelling (cold water ascending from the depths) and the Shadow of Upwelling (warm surface water) in the Gulf of Arauco. On the other hand, during the event held on Saturday, October 7th, at the UdeC Campus, Dr. Diego Valezuela, Associate Researcher in the “Aquaculture Genomics” field, presented in the “You, Me, and Science” segment, discussing “Microbiota: The Microorganisms that Control Our Body”.
The Festival of Sciences, FECI, is a national initiative of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge, and Innovation. It is a massive, public, free, and open event attracting over 10,000 visitors of all ages during its three-day run along three cities: Los Angeles, Curanilahue, and Concepción.
