Three researchers from the Interdisciplinary Center for Aquaculture Research (INCAR) have been called upon to participate in the Academic Advisory Council that will collaborate in updating the National Policy for Coastal Zone Use. These individuals include the center’s Director, Dr. Renato Quiñones; the Principal Researcher of INCAR’s Integrative Program, Dr. Doris Soto, and the Associate Researcher, Dr. Carlos Molinet. The researchers will work alongside the Minister of the Environment, Maisa Rojas; the Undersecretary for the Armed Forces, Galo Eidelstein; the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Science, Knowledge, Technology, and Innovation, Carolina Gainza; the Acting Undersecretary of National Assets, Alicia Barrera, and 20 experts and academics to provide technical input for the development of the new coastal zone policy for the country, which has not been updated in over 30 years.
The Advisory Council will facilitate the creation of a suitable territorial arrangement, a crucial component for the advancement of sustainable aquaculture and the adoption of an ecosystem-based approach to aquaculture in the nation. This will aid in addressing climate change consequences through a collaborative and sustainable usage proposal.
