The FIC-R Project titled “Enhancing the Competitiveness of Fishing Coves in Biobío” showcased its progress during a seminar focused on the challenges and opportunities presented by the Law of Coves

The FIC-R initiative, supported by the Regional Government of Biobío and executed by Universidad de Concepción through the Interdisciplinary Center for Aquaculture Research (INCAR), in collaboration with FEREPA Biobío and the consultancy Holon SpA, hosted the seminar “Enhancing the Competitiveness of Fishing Coves in Biobío” on Thursday, July 18. This seminar aimed to address the “Challenges and Opportunities of Implementing the Coves Law (Law 21.027) in the Biobío Region.” The initiative supports organizations from ten coves along Biobío Region by offering training to leaders in vital areas such as fundamental administration and accounting, the development of value chains and business models, and sustainable management of fishing resources and climate change, thereby enhancing the resilience of fishermen’s organizations in addressing forthcoming challenges
