The First Congress on Antibiotics in Aquaculture: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Sustainability” is now open for submissions

The “First Congress on Antibiotics in Aquaculture: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Sustainability,” organized by INTESAL in partnership with the Monterey Bay Aquarium, is scheduled to be held in Puerto Varas from November 20 to 22. This congress aims to bring together experts from the salmon aquaculture industry, academic institutions, and government agencies to address the sustainability challenges associated with antibiotic use in aquaculture. Key speakers will include Dr. Andreu Rico from the Universidad de Valencia (Spain) and associate researcher at IMDEA Water Institute; Maisie Ganzler, consultant focused on cooperative sustainability and socio-environmental issues in food supply chains from the United States; Dr. Gabriel Perrón, expert in evolutionary microbiology and antimicrobial resistance from Bard College (United States); and Alicia Gallardo, President of the Animal Health Standards Commission of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) from Chile.

The organization has initiated the submission process for contributions, which can be presented in three formats: a 12-minute oral presentation followed by a 3-minute Q&A, a 5-minute presentation, and poster. Participants are invited to submit scientific contributions on topics including One Health, environmental impacts, preventive strategies, treatment efficacy and management, regulatory policies, food safety, market dynamics and certifications, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and socioeconomic factors. The deadline for submissions is August 2nd.
