The seminar entitled “Oysters in Chile: Opportunities and Challenges for Aquaculture Diversification,” organized by the Interdisciplinary Center for Aquaculture Research (INCAR), was held at the Universidad de Concepción on Tuesday, the 6th. The seminar featured six presentations from a range of national and international experts, attracting a wide-ranging audience comprising public and private sector representatives, aquaculture producers, trade union leaders, professionals, and students at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Among the presenters were Dr. Steven Roberts from the University of Washington, Dr. Cristian Gallardo-Escárate, Deputy Director of INCAR, and Dr. Francisco Cárcamo from the Department of Restocking and Cultivation at IFOP. The event culminated in a discussion moderated by Dr. Doris Soto, Principal Researcher at INCAR, during which the speakers deliberated on the various opportunities and challenges that oyster aquaculture presents for diversification in the country.
