Dr. Ruben Avendaño-Herrera, academic at Universidad Andrés Bello and Principal Researcher at the Interdisciplinary Center for Aquaculture Research (INCAR), will serve as a Keynote Speaker at the “1st Latin American Workshop on Fish and Invertebrate Immunology.” This event is scheduled to take place between October 9th – 10th at the Aquaculture Biotechnology Center of Universidad de Santiago de Chile (USACH). During the instance, Dr. Avendaño-Herrera will deliver present a talk titled “Endemic Bacterial Pathogens in Chilean Salmon Farming: The Importance of Genetic and Antigenic Diversity in Virulence,” which consolidates the current knowledge on Piscirickettsia salmonis, Renibacterium salmoninarum, Tenacibaculum dicentrarchi, and Flavobacterium psychrophilum, highlighting their antigenic and genomic characteristics, as well as molecular diagnostic procedures.
