7th International Symposium of Stock Enhancement and Sea Ranching – ISSESR7

The 7th International Symposium on Stock Enhancement and Sea Ranching, entitled “Aquaculture-Based Enhancement Science to Unify the Conservation and Restoration of Fisheries,” will take place in Puerto Varas from November 5 to 8. This event is part of the 60th anniversary celebrations of the Fisheries Development Institute (IFOP) and serves as a scientific-public forum.

Organized by the Department of Stock Enhancement and Cultivation within IFOP’s Aquaculture Research Division, ISSESR7 is notable for being the first symposium of its kind held in Latin America. The event aims to promote dialogue and knowledge exchange among scientists and technicians focused on aquaculture-assisted stock enhancement and related fields, as well as engaging stakeholders from both public and private sectors. The symposium seeks to address the pressing sustainability challenges in fisheries and to underscore the role of aquaculture in conserving aquatic populations and ecosystems.

Spakers include Dr. Luís Oteiro, associate researcher at the IDEAL center, and Dr. Clara Obregón from ANCORS in Australia; Dr. Carlos Montenegro, who leads the Fisheries Research Division at IFOP; Dr. Cristian Gallardo-Escárate, Deputy Director of the INCAR Center; Dr. Mathew Taylor and Dr. Neil Loneragan from Australia, as well as Dr. Kai Lorenzen, Chairman of ISSESR International from the USA, along with specialists from China, South Africa, and Europe.
