Researchers and students from INCAR engaged in the workshop “Communicating Science.”

Approximately twenty researchers and graduate students from the INCAR Center participated in the “Communicating Science” workshop held on November 28 and 29. Throughout the two-day event, participants from all research areas of INCAR engaged in a series of theoretical and practical sessions, enhancing their understanding of the vital importance of scientific communication.

The workshop included interactive and collaborative exercises led by prominent speakers such as Andrea Obaid, journalist and president of the Chilean Association of Journalists and Professionals for Science Communication (ACHIPEC), Sergio Villagrán, biologist and science communicator involved in INCAR’s outreach program, and Dr. Juan Ignacio Martin from the Faculty of Communications at the University of Los Andes. The speakers addressed essential topics, including the significance of scientific communication in Chile, the stages and funding avenues for creating science communication products, the crafting of policy briefs for influencing public policy, scientific monologues, and effective communication strategies in both print and digital media.
