Dr. Doris Soto will be the guest on the final episode of the second season of the podcast “Sin Escamas.”

The last episode of the second season of the Salmonexpert podcast, “Sin escamas,” will feature Dr. Doris Soto, Principal Researcher at the Interdisciplinary Center for Aquaculture Research (Incar).

In this episode hosted by journalist Loreto Appel, Dr. Soto will review her professional career, beginning with her tenure as a full professor at the Universidad Austral de Chile in Puerto Montt in 1990, when she conducted extensive research on the environmental implications of aquaculture and its interaction with ecosystems. She will also discuss her role as a senior official in the Fisheries and Aquaculture Department of the FAO in Rome, where she led the environmental and aquaculture sector. Additionally, Dr. Soto will address her arrival at the Interdisciplinary Center for Aquaculture Research (Incar), where she heads the integrative program focused on ecosystem-based approaches and sustainable management of aquaculture in the context of climate change.

Doris Soto is a member of the Scientific-Technical Committee for territorial planning in aquaculture under Subpesca, the technical advisory committee of WWF Chile, and the Scientific Committee for Coastal Policy. She also serves on the board of FORECOS. Additionally, she has led the development of risk maps related to climate change for the sector and is currently advocating for the establishment of a traffic light system for Chilean aquaculture.
