Dr. Ruben Avendaño-Herrera has been appointed as the Director of the Technical Monitoring Group for Health and Animal Production at ANID

Dr. Rubén Avendaño-Herrera, professor at Universidad Andrés Bello (UNAB) and Principal Investigator of the “Animal Health in Early Salmonid Stages and Native Resources” research line at the Interdisciplinary Center for Aquaculture Research (INCAR), has been nominated to serve as Director of the Technical Monitoring Group for Animal Health and Production at the National Agency for Research and Development (ANID).

“The invitation to join this group was very surprising, although I am always ready to participate in any initiative requested by ANID and formerly by CONICYT. Considering that my PhD was funded by a BID-CONICYT program, I feel it is my duty to give back in some way for the opportunity the agency gave me to grow professionally. When they told me they had considered me to lead this group, composed of highly scientific and personally outstanding colleagues and friends from other veterinary fields, I was deeply moved. It is undoubtedly a great honor and responsibility, which I hope to fulfill. And best of all, I know I have the support and collaboration of each of my colleagues and the ANID team to achieve our proposed objectives,” Dr. Avendaño-Herrera said.

Dr. Avendaño-Herrera duties will include validating evaluations reviewed by group members, advising on responses to requests for academic or methodological modifications from project investigators, and providing guidance on other requirements related to the technical monitoring of projects.
