In May, Cafés científicos celebrates the sea month with a presentation dedicated to the topic of salmon farming

On May 20th, the second session of the Cafés Científicos 2025 series will take place. Cafés científicos is an event organized by the Biotechnology Center of the University of Concepción in collaboration with the Municipal Library of Concepción and the Interdisciplinary Center for Aquaculture Research (INCAR).

In this session, Dr. María Lorena González, an INCAR researcher and Executive Assistant at the Ocean Institute, will present a scientific talk titled “Aquaculture and the Invisible Life: How Do Chemical Compounds Affect Ocean Microbes?” This presentation aims to inform attendees about the characteristics of aquaculture both in Chile and globally, as well as to educate them on the effects of chemical compounds on the microbes that inhabit oceanic ecosystems.
