About 80 students from the Pencopolitano high schools in Penco, Trapaqueante in Tirúa, and Bicentenario Filidor Gaete Monsalve in Llico will engage in the Aquaculture Meeting 2025, taking place this Wednesday, June 4, in the locality of Llico, Arauco. The Aquaculture Meeting is an event that promotes the collaboration between technical high schools and research centers, networked work, and project-based learning in local contexts.
This event was organized by the INCAR Center, the Bicentenario Filidor Gaete Monsalve High School in Llico, and the NGO Educando en Red, which acts as the executing unit in the Biobío Region for the Ministry of Education’s Red Futuro Técnico Program. The initiative seeks to strengthen the management and technical competencies of aquaculture teachers through collaborative experiences and practices that emphasize innovation, sustainability, and digital tools, ultimately enhancing student learning in their high schools.
The event includes the organization of technical workshops and applied experiences, such as fish diseases, animal welfare, diving techniques, and biological measurements, conducted by specialists. Furthermore, this edition integrates digital tools applied to aquaculture into its program. In addition to the workshops, representatives from the Fishermen’s Union of Laraquete will participate in the event, presenting their experiences with Small Scale Aquaculture (APE) in the area, concluding with a roundtable discussion titled “Integration of Innovation and Sustainability for the Labor Market.”
