Researchers from the “Socioeconomic Sustainability” took part in the International Conference on Economy, Laws, and Government, ELG 2025, held in Vietnam.

Researchers from the “Socioeconomic Sustainability” line at the Interdisciplinary Center for Aquaculture Research (INCAR), Dr. Carlos Chávez and Dr. Leonardo Salazar, took part in the International Conference on Economy, Laws, and Government (ELG) 2025, which was organized by the Faculty of Economics, Laws, and Government at the University of Economics in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on August 1 and 2.

Dr. Carlos Chávez, academic from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEN) at the University of Talca and an Associate Researcher at INCAR, was one of the keynote speakers at the event with the lecture titled “Managing and Defending the Commons: Experimental Evidence.” Additionally, Dr. Chávez presented the study “The Rise of Mussel Aquaculture in Chile: Causes, Effects, and Challenges” during the “BlueRforD session: Economic Dynamics in Aquaculture and Marine Fisheries.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Leonardo Salazar, academic from the Department of Economics at Universidad de Concepción (UdeC) and an Adjunct Researcher at INCAR, presented “The Impact of Eco-Certifications on the Price of Salmon Products” in the “BlueRforD session: Sustainable Fisheries: Policy, Markets, and Behavior.”

Both researchers also participated in a workshop organized by the BlueRforD group of EfD, where they agreed on joint research topics related to externalities in aquaculture among Vietnam, Africa, and Chile.
